"I was gifted an amazing Norse style Seax by Scarab and Squirrel. It far exceeded any expectations I might have had. The metal handle cap is Mokume-gane (copper and nickel pattern welded) pommel that was made into a persoanl symbol, it is white bronze and the handle is spalted wood. The handle pin is one of the finest details of the entire knife – another personal symbol. Nickel silver was used on the beautiful period sheath. The blade itself is 5160 spring steel and surgically sharp. Truly a beautiful piece that im proud to have!"

My experience with knife-making, until I met Ron, was just this: watching Forged in Fire. He had his work cut out for him when I walked through his forge doors. The true mark of a natural teacher? He didn’t bat an eye; just said, “Let’s do this” and we were off. The day flew by, even though it was hard work, because he was so laid back and helpful. He’s knowledgeable (Forged in Fire champion!) and skilled and easy to learn from. The knife I left with was impressive to say the least, and I’m still amazed I was able to make it from a hunk of metal. Definitely doing it again.
